Audience Feedback

As our music video is completed and is now on youtube as well as on our main group blog, I carried out my own audience research in order to find out what our target audience think of our music video. Here are some of the feedback I got: 

According to the feedback I received, it is clearly shown that audience loved our candle shots because they feel these shots were very effective and emotive . Some people also say they loved the ending, how the love hearted candles blow out- it illustrates that their relationship is over. Some also said that the lip synchronization was really good but on the other hand some people said that lip synchronization could be improved. Overall, most people loved our music video and the average overall rate we got was 8.

Group disscussion

As a group, we have decided that we will be working on our group task together after school as our music video is completed. We also will be doing our individual tasks as the deadline is near and I feel it is important to get everything done on time. We all will be staying behind school tomorrow to complete all the finishing touches on our music video. Becky and I will also be completing our posters so that we can start with our evaluation as soon as possible.

Editing

The editing is completed and I am very pleased about that but the only things we have to do so far is to complete the final stages. They are:

Making the album cover

Today I have started to make the album cover, I'v chosen the image from the fire place scene. I also finished with the font however, I want to make it perfect so I feel I should use 'illustrator' for a better affect on the font. I will start doing the back of the album cover over the weekend so that I space out my time well between the edits and the extras.

Analysis of Artist website: Akon

I will be analysing Akon’s official website; page is clearly layered out with a mixture of different I will be analysing Akon’s official website; page is clearly layered out with a mixture of different images, videos, latest update and many more. The background contains two large images of Akon on white and the heading is in red and white on black. These mixtures of different colours attract the viewer’s attention as well as the fans. Also the images and the type of font on the page are there to ensure that the audiences are engaged and entertained. On the right hand side of the page, there is a video especially created for the fans to watch which keeps them updated on their star. On the right hand side, there also is a link to Akon’s twits this enables audience to communicate with the star. In the centre of the webpage there is a large image of Akon used in an advert form to attract the viewers and also it is a way to sell the artist image. The advert enables audience to join a fan club and get ‘closer’ to the artist. Underneath the advert, there are music videos that feature Akon this is also another way to sell the artist. Another reason why these videos are placed on the front page is so that Akon’s other music videos are also viewed.  

In my opinion the target audience for Akon’s webpage would be his fans and people who are interested in that genre of music. The estimated age for the fans would be 10-25+ and these people are drawn to the website through the artist name, images, live performance and albums. Having other things such as, live performances and interviews on the website appeals to all type of people. Below is the link to the official website: akononline.com/

Websites is one of the ways in which the artists get across to their fans however, there are also many other social networking sites where fans can get updates on their artist. Everything is going well, as a group we are on track and we have already edited 1 minute of the music video. Sarah has finished editing her sequence and Becky will be edited her session as soon as we get back in school and the music is in it's place.

Analysis of Album Cover

The most common thing in most album covers is that there is always as extreme close up of the artist, the artist name or a logo and the album name. Here are some examples of album covers:

I was told that we need to create an album cover as well as an artist website. Album needs to be done individually and I have ideas for that, the scene where Tia is sitting and she is surrounded by candles. For the website, Sarah has volunteered to create the website but we will all do two pages each.

The plan so far…

Monday- record pictures with Duresh’s brother and print them out on photo paper and create the set.

Tuesday- record at sureya’s house, the pick up shots we need. The shots we need to record are; the bedroom scene and the jumper shot. We will also record at Sarah’s house the guitar bit on the stairs.

Wednesday- record the Polaroid scene

Thursday- upload on one computer and help Becky to edit on the other (edit the bedroom scene)

Monday- help Sarah to edit the Polaroid scene during lunch and lesson.

Tuesday- carry on editing myself and upload the song on Final Cut.

Looking for a male artist!

We have decided to use my brother’s friend who is a model and I feel he will look good with Tia. However, the artist was not able to record with us due to the recording times and his school times, so we have decided to use my brother instead.

NEW IDEA!!

We all came up with another idea which we like a lot but for that we will need a male actor. The idea is that we will take pictures of the two artists together as “couples” and then we will create a frame where all the pictures will be placed on a wall as “her memories of him and her still being there for him”. We will then record the female artist singing and going through the images that will be in the background.

Editing session 4

Everything is going fine, the uploading is done and we have noticed that we need more shots. I have also started to edit the sequence, the first 12 seconds of the sequence are done and I am very pleased with what we have. However, I do understand I might have to make more changed as not all the sections are done and the song is not uploaded.

I have uploaded everything on IMovie HD, Sarah and Becky is gone to record as it is the best thing to do at the moment and we need more shots. I have sorted each shot out in order so it will be easier for me to edit. Today I was told that Sarah and Becky also need to edit a section of the music video, so I have left them a section to do.

I have left them all the shots in order so it will be easier for them to edit when it is their turn, I will be there to help them because it took me 3 lessons to figure out how to use Final Cut and we can not lose more time.

Editing session 2

I still can’t find a way to upload straight on to Final Cut so I’ve decided to upload on IMovie HD and transfer it on to Final Cut, I think that might be the easiest way and I don’t have time, the first edit deadline is near.

Today was the first day of editing because I am used to using IMovie HD, Final Cut is difficult to use. I can’t figure out how to upload straight on to Final Cut but I’ll find a way

Recording plan:

As soon as we go back, we will start to record the scenes we couldn't do becuase we didn't have enough time before the holidays. We will do:
- Sureya's house scene as Becky wasn't there and we need to do some extra shots.
- My house scene (the stairs) this is also an important shot because we use most of the parts as cut away.

Whilst we are recording, I will make time to edit the shots we already have as the deadlines is very near. We have less time left for recording therefore Sarah and Becky might have to do it without me becuase I Have to start editing as that will take most of our time.

Intertextuality

Intertextuality is a reference for another text; music videos often have some aspects which refer to another existing text. Music videos have entered a postmodern era where old existing text is being used to engage viewers even more. These recognitions are not made easily by viewers they are just there to pleasure the viewers. Intertextuality can come across in different forms such as; cinema, art, images, fashion, dances etc...

These types of scenes/shots are very popular as they are close ups and it is an easy way to sell the artist. They focus on the main aspects of the artist and their facial expressions.

Nelly ft. Kelly Rowland Gone is another example which uses the same shot to illustrate Voyeurism

Voyeurism is another important aspect in music videos, every music video has some kind of sextual desire. It either has the ‘male gaze’ or it makes woman the ‘object’, voyeurism is used to sell the artist and to pleasure the viewers.
